Terms of service
Last updated
Shard helps you create contact cards and share the right details with the people you meet. These terms describe your responsibilities and what to expect when using the service.
Shard operates from the United States.
Using Shard
These terms govern your use of Shard and its related features. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age required where you live. If you cannot enter into these terms on your own, a parent or legal guardian must agree on your behalf.
Your account and security
Provide accurate information and use only accounts and sign-in methods you are authorized to use. You are responsible for keeping access to your Google or Apple account, passkeys, and API credentials secure, and for activity you authorize through your account.
Keep a recovery option for your sign-in method. If you rely on passkeys, use a synced passkey or add a backup. Shard may be unable to restore access if you lose all sign-in methods. Do not share API credentials or use them to access another person's account.
Your content and sharing choices
You retain ownership of the content you provide. You give Shard permission to store, process, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the service and follow your sharing choices. You must have the rights and permissions needed to provide and share the content.
Published cards are public and may be copied, downloaded, indexed, or shared by others. You are responsible for choosing which details to publish. Removing content from Shard does not recall copies already saved elsewhere. Do not publish another person's private information without permission.
Acceptable use
Do not use Shard for unlawful activity, impersonation, fraud, harassment, spam, or infringement of another person's rights. Do not distribute malicious content, collect personal information for abusive purposes, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
Do not bypass security or access controls, attempt to access private data without authorization, interfere with the service, or evade rate limits. Automated access must respect the service's permissions and limits.
Third-party services
Sign-in providers, passkey providers, device platforms, and websites linked from cards operate independently and have their own terms. Shard does not control their availability or practices. A card or link appearing on Shard is not an endorsement of its owner or content.
Features and availability
We may update, replace, limit, or discontinue features. Early-access and Premium features may change, and an invitation does not guarantee that a feature will remain available forever. If we introduce paid services, their price and applicable payment terms will be shown before you agree to pay.
We aim to provide a useful service but do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that every feature will work on every device. Keep your own copies of information you need.
Suspension and account closure
We may restrict access or remove content when reasonably necessary to address violations of these terms, security risks, unlawful activity, or legal requirements. You can stop using Shard at any time and delete your account in Account settings → Advanced. Data handling after closure is described in the privacy policy.
Disclaimers and responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Shard is provided as available and without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the accuracy of information supplied by users.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses resulting from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, or limits consumer rights and remedies that apply to you.
Privacy and changes to these terms
Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information. These terms do not replace any consent required by applicable privacy law.
We may revise these terms as Shard changes and will update the date on this page. Material changes will receive additional notice where required by law. If you do not agree to revised terms, stop using the service. Any provision that cannot be enforced will apply only to the extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
